PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable photosensitive material having enhanced resistance to fouling with left fingerprints and improved raw stock preservability, and a method for preparing a non-photosensitive organic silver salt. SOLUTION: The heat developable photosensitive material has, on at least one surface of a support, an image forming layer containing at least a photosensitive silver halide, a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent and a binder and has at least one non-photosensitive layer containing a non-photosensitive organic silver salt on the same surface side of the support as the image forming layer, wherein≥50 mass% of the non-photosensitive organic silver salt is a non-photosensitive organic silver slat having an average aspect ratio of 2-30 and an average equivalent spherical diameter of 0.01-1.0μm.
