<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress an extension cost of optical fibers for supplying multi-wavelength light without installing light sources by each wavelength to each station in a WDM transmission system using multi-wavelength light sources. <P>SOLUTION: An averaging section 205 averages an amplitude of an optical signal with a wavelength λ1 to produce a CW light the peak of which exists in the wavelength among optical signals λ1 to λm included in a received WDM light. A modulator 207 uses the generated CW light in place of the light source to modulate the CW light by a transmission data sequence and produces the optical signal with the wavelength λ1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
