<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reducing astringency of proanthocyanidin causing no coagulating sedimentation and/or suspension even in water solution, inexpensively and safely reducing astringency of the proanthocyanidin, enabling addition of proanthocyanidin even to a transparent or translucent beverage such as soft drink at a high concentration without spoiling commercial value as a beverage, and having light astringency to be easy to drink. <P>SOLUTION: The method for reducing astringency of proanthocyanidin comprises adding peptide and a pH adjusting agent to a beverage containing, as a main ingredient, extract having proanthocyanidin obtained by extracting plants.
