PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical depilation apparatus capable of employing an inexpensive light source, performing depilation in a short time by simplifying the sequence of depilation processing and improving safety in depilation by avoiding the irradiation of unnecessary portions. SOLUTION: A light emission part 2 is formed of a light-reflecting light guiding plate incorporating a light source. Light emitted from the light source is reflected by the light guiding plate to be guided toward the optical outlet of the light emission part 2, that is, a light reflecting part 3. When the reflector of the light reflecting part 3 is not disposed above body hairs, its reflecting surface is disposed to face the optical outlet of the light emission part 2 to avoid irradiating the skin. When the reflector is disposed above the body hairs based on information detected by a detector 5, its reflecting surface is inclined with respect to the light emitting direction of the light emission part 2 to guide the light to the body hairs.
