<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera which, when displaying a result of retrieval of an opposite device, displays the fact of the retrieval, the number of retrieved opposite devices as a result of the retrieval, and a character string received from the opposite device, and which therefore enables the result of the retrieval to be easily comprehended and has improved operability in selection of the opposite device. <P>SOLUTION: A digital camera comprises: an imaging means for imaging an object image and outputting the image as image data; a recording means for recording image data as an image file; a communication means for constructing a communication line with an external device to exchange data; and an opposite device retrieving means for retrieving a communicable opposite device. Furthermore, the digital camera includes an opposite device display means for displaying the fact of retrieval if the communicable opposite device is retrieved by the opposite device retrieving means.
