<p>A sensor arrangement for identification and location of metal bars or rods in metal processing is such that (A) there is an electromagnetic oscillator (1,2) producing an electromagnetic alternating field in a zone (1l,2l) of a path (F) for the bar or rod (20); (B) a device measures the time dependency of the alternating field frequency; and (C) the oscillator is sufficiently close to the path (F) for a positional or surface variation and/or the speed of a bar or rod in zone (1l,2l) to effect a measurable variation in the frequency. An independent claim is also included for the process of identifying and locating metal bars or rods in metal processing using the above arrangement to determine the bar or rod type, speed and/or position.</p> |
