<p>The invention comprises the compound <FORM:0872144/IV (b)/1> melting between about 262 DEG and 265 DEG C.; it may be prepared by the chlorination of 1,2-epoxy - 4,5,6,7,8,8 - hexachloro - 4,7 - methano - 3a ,4,7,7a -tetrahydroindane, e.g. at -50 DEG to 150 DEG C. in an inert solvent in the presence of light. The compound is of value in insecticidal compositions (see Group VI), as a stabilizer-plasticizer for vinyl resins, or filler material and a resin intermediate. Specification 681,495 is referred to.ALSO:The invention comprises insecticidal compositions containing as active ingredient the compound <FORM:0872144/VI/1> (melting between about 262 DEG and 265 DEG C.) in admixture with an inert carrier. The compositions may be solid or liquid; normal carriers are specified. Activators, adhesives, spreaders, synergists, surface-active agents, and other pest control agents may be present.
