Meshwork, grids (especially welded grids), and woven metal fabrics are electrogalvanized in an acid bath, the ratio of cathode surface area to anode surface area being from 1 : 2 to 1 : 4, preferably from 1 : 2.5 to 1 : 3. The anode may consist of cast zinc rods, so arranged that the outermost rod is 100 to 150 mm. from the edge of the web being galvanized, to avoid " edge effects." The mesh may first be subjected to chemical and electrolytic pickling. The bath may be operated at a temperature of 30-40‹ C., a pH of 3.5 to 5, a voltage of 8 to 10 volts and a cathode current density of 6 to 8 amps. per sq. dm. A bright deposit is obtained. U.S.A.
