A tape or strip (7) is pushed through a hole in the article (2) and information (3) and this end of the tape is held in place while the article and information are moved relative to the tape so that the latter adopts a U-shape, then the ends of the tape are joined and welded together. A method for attaching information e.g. instructions or guarantees to an article intended for sale comprises forming a plastic tape into a loop or eyelet and welding the ends of the tape together. A tape, strip or the like is pushed through a hole in the article and a hole in the information and this end of the tape is held in place while the article and information are moved relative to the tape so that the latter adopts a U-shape, then the ends of the tape are joined and welded together. An independent claim is also included for the apparatus for carrying out this method, comprising a tube for inserting through the holes in the article and information, a clamp (11, 12) for securing the tape guided through the tube and holes, a device for moving the article and information and a welding device (15) for pressing and welding together the ends of the tape. |
