The invention relates to a process for preparing higher oxo-alcohols from isomeric olefin mixtures having from 5 to 24 carbon atoms, by two-stage formylation, in the presence of a cobalt- or rhodium-based catalyst, at high temperature and pressure, where the reaction mixture from the first hydroformylation stage is selectively hydrogenated, the hydrogenation mixture is separated during a distillation stage in pure alcohols and components with low boiling points, substantially consisting of olefins, which are led to the second hydroformylation stage, the reaction mixture from the second hydroformylation stage being selectively hydrogenated, the hydrogenation mixture being separated again, during a distillation stage, in pure alcohols and components with low boiling point, the raw alcohol being processed into pure alcohol by distillation and at least one part of the low boiling point components being discharged for removing the saturated hydrocarbons.
|
