Disclosed are compounds of formula (I), wherein: R1 is alkyl, alkyl-Ar or Ar, R2 is H, alkyl, alkyl-Ar', NR4, N(CO)R4, alkyl-NR3R4, alkylC(O)NR3R4, alkylC(O)Ar', alkyl-NHC(O)NR3R4, alkylNHC(O)Ar' or alkylSO2R4, Ar is optionally substituted phenyl, furyl, or thienyl, Ar' is optionally substituted phenyl, naphthyl, furyl, pyridyl, thienyl, thiazolyl, isothiazolyl, pyrazolyl, triazolyl, tetrazolyl, imidazolyl, imidazolidinyl, benzofuranyl, indolyl, thiazolidinyl, isoxazolyl, oxadiazolyl, thiadiazolyl, pyrrolyl, or pyrimidyl, A is N(CHO)OH, X is NH, Y is C(O). The compounds are used for the manufacture of medicaments for treating bacterial infections.
