The system has a tibial guide rod (2) defined along a longitudinal axis (3), and units (10) determining a cutting plane of a proximal head of a tibia with respect to the axis such that the plane of the head makes a preset angle with the axis. Units (30) determine another cutting plane of a distal tip of a femur with respect to the axis such that the plane of the tip makes the angle with the axis and a distance between the planes is equal to a value determined according to a configuration of a knee to be implanted.
