PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner which is small in the area of a filter, is excellent in an excellent dust collecting performance and is small in size. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner comprises: a dust separating part 10 arranged in a dust collecting part 5, so as to separate suction wind and dust; a dust catching part 18 for catching the dust separated by the dust separating part 10; a projecting part 19 arranged in the outer shell of the dust collecting part 5, so as to communicate the dust separating part 10 with the dust catching part 18; connection parts A14, B15 in an internal cavity, which are arranged in the outer shell of the dust collecting part 5, so as to supply air including the dust to the dust separating part 10; and a mesh filter 16 arranged at the inner side of a top surface in the dust separating part 10. The inner side of the top surface of the dust separating part 10 and the inner side of the top surfaces of the connection parts A14, B15 are arranged on a substantially straight line. Consequently, the suction wind is made to flow to wipe the mesh filter 16 and the dust is not sucked, thereby providing the vacuum cleaner which is small in the area of the filter, is excellent in the excellent dust collecting performance and is small in size.
