PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeding device capable of raising the speed of the printing operation. SOLUTION: The sheet feeding device is equipped with a register roller to feed each sheet to an image formation part while a pair of rollers installed on the side with image formation part rotate, a pair of feed rollers to give a carrying force to the sheet directed to the register roller while a pair of rollers installed on the side with a sheet accommodating means rotate, a carrying path connecting the feed roller to the register roller and fitted with a member to give a carrying force to the sheet, a sensor installed in the neighborhood of the feed roller and sensing passage of the sheet front edge, and a control part to stop once the rotation of the rollers in pair forming a nipping region a certain time after the sheet rear edge has gone through the nipping region, and resume the rotation when the sensor has not sensed passage of the front edge of the sheet to be fed next to the image formation part, at a speed higher than the rotating speed in case sensing has been made.
