The invention relates to a method for controlling data transport between a mobile radio appliance (M) and base stations (BS₁, BS₂) in a cellular network (N). According to said method, a radio link is at least temporarily established between the mobile radio appliance (M) and the network (N), simultaneously via a plurality of base stations (BS₁, BS₂). Transport format reference signals (TS) are sent by one of the base stations (BS₁) to the mobile radio appliance (M), in order to signal to the mobile radio appliance (M) the transport formats desired by the base station (BS₁) for data transmission (UD) from the mobile radio appliance (M) to the base station (BS₁) in question. Furthermore, it is determined whether, from the base stations (BS₁, BS₂) used to maintain a radio link between the mobile radio appliance (M) and the network (N), the base station (BS₁) which sends the transport format reference signals (TS) to the mobile radio appliance (M) is the base station with which the current best link for the transmission of data from the mobile radio appliance (M) to the network (N) is established according to a pre-defined evaluation criterion. Upon determination of a transport format used by the mobile radio appliance (M) during the transmission of data (UD) to the base stations (BS₁, BS₂), the transport format reference signal (TS) is then taken into account according to the determination result. The invention also relates to a mobile radio appliance (M) and a base station (BS₁, BS₂) which are respectively embodied in such a way as to carry out the inventive method.
