DETECTOR FOR MOVING OBJECT, AND SPEED MEASURING INSTRUMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detector by which passing of moving object can reliably be detected without change of detection precision depending on the reflectance ratio of the surface of the moving object or the shape of the moving object and passing of even a moving object whose pass-through position is not stable through a prescribed position for measuring a moving speed can reliably be detected, and to provide a speed measuring instrument using the detector of the moving object. SOLUTION: This detector of the moving object is composed of: a laser light source for projecting projection light expanding in a fan shape along a prescribed optical path; the moving object moving nearly orthogonally to the projection light expanding in the fan shape; a reflection marker provided at the moving object; and a photosensor for detecting reflected light which is obtained by reflecting the projection light by the reflection marker to return through an inverse path of the prescribed optical path.
