PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide electrophotographic photoreceptor which prevents crazing from occurring at the time of deposition of a single or multiple component-based metal oxide glass film on a photoreceptor surface, prevents an image blur from occurring in spite of curing the film by heating at a low temperature below 200°C, and is highly resistant to wear. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor is configured by further laminating a photoreceptor extreme surface layer on a photosensitive layer formed with a charge generating layer and a charge transfer layer directly or via an undercoating layer on a conductive support. The photoreceptor extreme surface layer is a single or multiple component-based metal oxide glass film formed by hydrolyzing a hydrolyzable organic metal compound into a reaction liquid composed of water and an organic solvent to cause dehydration condensation, then applying the reaction product on a substrate surface and vitrifying the coating at≤200°C.
