PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inexpensively producing 4,4'-bisphenol F of high purity and bisphenol F of general-purpose purity simultaneously. SOLUTION: Bisphenol Fs having different purity are produced by allowing phenol to react with formaldehyde at a ratio of 6 to 15 in the presence of an acid catalyst, cooling the reaction solution, then separating into the oil phase and the water phase, removing water and at least of a part of phenol from the organic layer and concentrating the organic reaction mixture so that the weight ratio of phenol to organic reaction product may become in the range of 5/1 to 0.8/1, heating the concentrated reaction solution to a temperature higher than 50°C, then, adding aromatic hydrocarbon solvent in an amount of from 50 to 150 %wt. based on the reaction solution thereby allowing 4,4'-bisphenol F partially crystallized to carry out the solid-liquid phase separation and the pure 4,4'-bisphenol F is collected from the solid phase and simultaneously bisphenol F of general-purpose purity is collected from the liquid phase.
