PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illuminator for visual examination capable of freely altering the luminous intensity and direction of the light impinging against the surface of a work in the illuminator of a magnifying lens for visual examination. SOLUTION: The illuminator for visual examination is constituted of a rectangular illumination light source to which a plurality of LEDs are arranged, a flexible arm with a predetermined length held so as to be deformed in a freely bendable manner and the magnifying lens to which the other end of the flexible arm is fixed. Further, the power supply wire issued from the illumination light source passes through the flexible arm and a plug socket is attached to the other end of the power supply wire to constitute the illuminator so as to be capable of using a household power supply. Furthermore, a luminous intensity adjusting means is attached to the illumination light source and a grip is attached to the flexible arm so as to adjust luminous intensity and up and down movement.
