PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a feeder replacing apparatus for a surface mounter capable of positively detecting a foreign matter cut into between a cramp plate and a mounting seat. SOLUTION: The feeder exchanger is provided with a batch replacing truck 15 in which many tape feeders 6 are loaded. The apparatus is provided with the mounting seat 54a of a surface mounter 1 side for superimposing an arm 36 of the truck 15 from the lower part and fixing it. The apparatus is provided with a pressure switch 74 for changing a detection amount depending on the size of a gap between the arm 36 and the mounting seat 54a. The apparatus is provided with a control device 9 connected to the pressure switch 74 and performing a specific operation for indicating an abnormality if the gap is larger than a predetermined limit value.
