PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing apparatus capable of preventing the hardness of a heating member from increasing and capable of ensuring a predetermined or greater nip width between the heating member and a pressurizing member. SOLUTION: The fixing apparatus is provided with the heating member 2 including an elastic member 2b and a metal conductive layer 2c disposed outside the elastic member 2b. The elastic member has central portion 21b having a first outer diameter r1 and end portions 22b, 23b disposed at both ends of the central portion 21b and having a second outer diameter r2 grater than the first outer diameter r1.
