<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to obtain a variable capacitance element that is high in capacity ratio and has a high Q value. <P>SOLUTION: The variable capacitance element includes first and second electrodes 1, 2, and 4 fixed over a board 8 with a distance between them, a movable electrode 3 and 5, and an actuator 14 that is supported on a support section 13 provided on the board and drives the movable electrode. The movable electrode is brought into electrical contact with the second electrode when driven by the actuator and is brought out of electrical contact with the second electrode when not driven.
