PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcast receiver with a simple configuration without including any special expensive function section capable of quickly performing display of broadcast services after a start operation is applied to the receiver. SOLUTION: After the receiver is started, a first system controller 240 immediately initializes a station selection demodulation section 220, a demultiplexer (DEMUX) and encryption decoder 250, a voice decoder 260, and an image composite unit 400 without awaiting operation of an OS. After the initializing, the receiver quickly provides a video and audio viewing and listening service as a partial service. After the receiver is started, a second system controller 810 immediately reads the OS to a prescribed RAM under its own management without awaiting the initialization of each function unit belonging to a second processing system and associated peripheral devices or the like, and further starts software for data processing associated with data broadcasting.
