PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographing device having an AF function and capable of clearly displaying an object to be focused. SOLUTION: When a release button is determined to be pressed halfway (step S102), the driving of a photographic lens is started (step S103) to simultaneously detect contrast about each of many partial areas included in the object (step S104). Then, it is determined whether each partial area is a high contrast area, that is, whether the high contrast area is specified on the basis of a contrast peak to the lens position of the photographic lens and a distance to the object (step S105). When the high contrast area is specified, a through image obtained by coloring the high contrast area is displayed on an LCD monitor (step S106).
