<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an electric double layer capacitor of higher electrostatic capacitance density than before. <P>SOLUTION: The electric double layer capacitor contains a carbon material comprising microcrystalline carbon similar to graphite as a polarizable electrode. The carbon material is preserved for a specified period of time while it is made to contact with an electrolyte. Then, while the electrode is applied with pressure required for suppressing expansion at charging in the thickness direction of the carbon material at the start of charging, such charging is applied at least once, at a temperature higher than room temperature, as a voltage higher than a scheduled use voltage of the capacitor is used as a charging stop voltage. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
