<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traffic lane recognition system which can detect a traffic lane including a dotted line marker and has high detecting performance with less calculation amount. <P>SOLUTION: The traffic lane recognition system 2 extracts the traffic lane depicting dotted linear trajectory over time based on the characteristic image extracted from a time series of input images captured through a visual sensor 1, further for a filtered characteristic image at a certain time updates and obtains a time series of filtered characteristic images by adding each pixel to the corresponding pixel of the extracted characteristic images at a predetermined rate, and further again lowers calculation amount comparing with execution of processing with large calculation amount such as Hough transformation on the input image or the filtered input image by transforming the image into a road surface coordination system. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
