<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform stroboscopic photographing with appropriate exposure by dimming stroboscopic light for a main subject. <P>SOLUTION: An amount of light emitted from a stroboscopic device 20 is calculated based upon at least distance measurement information or photographic sensitivity information or diaphragm information. Based upon stroboscopic reflection light from a subject, the calculated amount of light emitted from the stroboscopic device 20 is corrected to be used for photographing. The desired position of the subject within a photographic view field is specified through the intruction operation part of an operating section 16.
