PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat display panel preventing impurities from penetrating into the inside of a sealed region, a display region in particular, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: In a dielectric layer 13, a protective layer 21 for improving optical damage resistance is formed in a region from the center of the panel to the inner periphery part of the sealed region, and an adsorption layer 31 for adsorbing impurities is formed in a region from the peripheral fringe part of the panel to the outer periphery part of the sealed region. Since both substrates are introduced into a heating furnace 70 by fixing the positions of both substrates with a proper length kept between them so as to produce a gap in the upper part of a sealing material 15, and atmospheric gas (impurity gas) in the heating furnace penetrates into the gap. However, since the adsorption layer 31 is formed in the region from the peripheral fringe part of the panel to the outer periphery part of the sealed region, the impurity gas is adsorbed by the adsorption layer 31 and it is prevented from penetrating into the inside (display region) of the panel.
