PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device capable of surely avoiding the occurrence of a defective state in the case of abnormal scanning of a light beam. SOLUTION: The image display device 100 includes a light source part 101 for supplying the light beam and a scanning part 104 for scanning light from the light source part 101 and displays an image by light from the scanning part 104 and furthermore includes a connection part 120 for electrically connecting the light source part 101 and an external power source for supplying power to the light source part 101. The connection part 120 is provided in an optical path of light L1 from the light source part 101 through the scanning part 104 and disconnects an electric connection between the light source part 101 and the external power source when being irradiated with light from the scanning part 104 with energy larger than a prescribed energy.
