A lighting device (1), removable with respect to a backrest (13) or headrest (4) of a vehicle seat, is connectible to a main power supply (12) in the backrest. The device also includes an independent additional power supply comprising of rechargeable batteries likewise connectible to the main power supply and to lighting sources such as light emitting diodes.
