PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bending optical system with which a digital camera is made smaller/thinner and high definition and high magnification image is obtained. SOLUTION: The bending optical system has a first collapsible lens group 120 which is supported by a lens barrel 123 and can move two positions of an imaging position and a storage position and a light deflection part which bends incident light which transmits the first lens group 120 in a direction different from a light axis AXA of the incident light, the light deflection part has a base part and a reflection part mechanically coupled to the base part, the base part has a base material 142 which supports the reflection part and an energization means 145 etc. for transferring or rotating the base material 142 to two positions of a deflecting position and a retracting position interlocked with transfer of the lens barrel 123 to the imaging position and the storage position and the reflection part has a reflection member 140 which deflects and reflects the incident light and an actuator 141a etc. which adjusts an angle of the reflection member 140 to the base material 142.
