PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage control system capable of effectively using storage resources by rapidly releasing a storage device provided as a spare from data recovery processing of a storage device which causes a failure. SOLUTION: In this system, a broken disk drive can be replaced by a new disk drive even before end of collection copy. A control device 140 of a storage system 600 recognizes this replacement, and automatically performs back copy from a spare disk drive to the new disk drive. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
