A metal-halogen lamp with ceramic discharge unit comprises seals with through current leads with attached electrodes fixed by a shaft. The through guide (9) comprises two cylindrical rod sections of different diameter with the outer section (29) lying on the end face of the seal. The inner section (20) has an outer diameter that is at least 10 microns less than the hole and the outer section has a diameter that is 5 - 20 microns larger than the hole so that the stage between them acts as a capillary. An independent claim is also included for a production process for the above.
