A method for transmitting a broadcast message in a portable phone is provided to insert a word or a phrase corresponding to closeness and relation between a sender and a recipient according to each recipient and transmit the broadcast message, thereby enabling the recipient to feel the broadcast message is individually made out only for the recipient. A method for transmitting a broadcast message in a portable phone comprises the following steps of: recording words for a key word in order to differentiate the contents of the broadcast message according to each recipient(S2); and confirming whether the key word is inserted into the contents of the broadcast message made by a user and changing the inserted key word into a corresponding word on a telephone directory and transmitting the changed word(S5,S6,S7).
