[Also in Groups XXXII and XXXIV] A vehicle having hydro-pneumatic suspension with at least one level regulating valve 9, 11 to each axle has one or more control valves 23, 16, 20 operating devices such as the clutch, front brakes 14 and rear brakes 18, the control valves each being connected to one or a pair of the pressure oil chambers of the spring elements 3 or to the pressure oil conduits from the regulating valves supplying the spring elements. As shown in Fig. 1, hydraulic fluid from reservoir 5 is pumped by pump 4 into pressure accumulator 7 from which conduits 8 lead to the height regulating valves 9, 11 from which further conduits 12, 10 supply the hydraulic fluid chambers of the spring elements 3. The clutch operating valve 23 is connected by conduit 26 to rear suspension supply conduit 10 and brakeoperating valves 16, 20 are connected to the front suspension supply conduit 12 by conduit 17. Exhaust fluid from the operating valves passes through conduit 27 into return conduit 13 from the suspension to reservoir 5. In alternatives, with the valves arranged in the preferred form of a block (Fig. 4, not shown) the front spring elements supply the front brakes and clutch and the rear spring elements supply the rear brakes and in Fig. 2 (not shown) valves for the front and rear brakes only are provided connected respectively to the front and rear suspensions so that the braking is dependant on the axle loading. In a further alternative the operating valves may be connected to an auxiliary accumulator connected in turn to conduit 10 or 12 leading to the spring elements. The operating valve, Fig. 3, comprises a housing 41 with an hydraulic fluid inlet 44, a pressure outlet 48 to the device being controlled and an exhaust outlet 45. Within the housing are an axially adjustable fixed valve body 42 with a seating for a ball 53, a valve body 43 movable under the influence of a foot pedal and a spring- loaded lever member 46 which is preferably of disc form with axial drillings 55 and seatings for ball 53, annular resilient seal 56 and spring 47. Normally, ball 53 is urged by spring-loaded member 46 against its seating on body 42 to close the fluid inlet path through drillings 51, 52 while there is free communication between outlets 48 and 45 round and through member 46 and through drillings 58, 59 in body 43. When the body 43 is moved to the left by the foot pedal drilling 58 and hence outlet 45 are closed by resilient seal 56 and lever 46 pivots about end 57 allowing ball 53 to leave its seat and oil to pass from the inlet through the drillings 51, 52, 55 into the outlet 48. If the pedal is slowly released the inlet is cut off before the exhaust is opened again.</p>
