摘要 In a method for in situ repair of a surficially decayed or damaged timber pile, unsound material is removed from the section to be repaired. A grout form is placed around the repair section of the pile, and a fluid grout is introduced into the form so as to fill the space inside. After the grout has solidified, the form is removed, and at least one layer of a non-biodegradable synthetic reinforcing fabric is bonded to the surface of the grout in the repair area using a suitable adhesive resin. The reinforcing fabric has a least one layer of primary fibers that are adapted to withstand tensile stress. Th e primary fibers of the reinforcing fabric layers are selectively oriented, either perpendicular, parallel, or obliquely relative to the axis of the pile, as appropriate to achieve desired structural reinforcing effects. In an alternative embodiment, the damaged section of the pile may be cut out and replaced with a timber infill section, which is anchored to the stub of the cut-off pile using double-hooked tension bars placed in corresponding grooves and holes formed in the infill section and the pile stub. At least one layer of reinforcing fabric is then wrapped around and bonded to the infill section and the pile stub so as to envelope the region having tension bars, using a suitable adhesiveresin.</SD OAB>
