<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely detect information as to a print paper sheet to determine a kind of a sheet material, in a print paper sheet conveying passage for a small-sized high speed copying machine, printer or the like. <P>SOLUTION: In this kind determination device for the sheet material having an impact applying part 10 for applying an impact onto the sheet material S from an outside, and a detecting part 22 for outputting a signal with the impact via the sheet material S, the impact applying part 10 has an energizing member 15 for energizing impact force onto an impact member 13, a moving member 14 for moving the impact member 13, and a driving source 12 for operating the moving member 14, the impact member 13 is moved to a prescribed position by the moving member 14 to be held for a prescribed time in the position, and the impact member 13 is released thereafter from the moving member 14 to apply the impact. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
