PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine-driven heat pump capable of carrying out proper detection of the slip of a clutch by using an engine speed showing characteristic behavior during the engagement of the clutch. SOLUTION: The engine driven heat pump comprises a speed detecting means for detecting the engine speed N, and a clutch slip determining means for determining the slip of the clutch when the engine speed N detected by the speed detecting means is not lower than an engine speed NO before the engagement of the clutch in a certain timeΔt after the engagement of the clutch.
