The method involves limiting the opening of the exhaust valve for each engine cylinder, when the work cycle of the engine is completed after engine starting. Fuel injection and ignition in the cylinder is controlled. The degree of limiting the exhaust valve opening is dependent on various engine-operating parameters e.g. outside temperature, crankshaft speed, fuel injection pressure. An independent claim is also included for a device for operating a valve gear for IC engine.
