<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber vibration sensor suitable for measuring wideband acoustic vibration in severe environments. <P>SOLUTION: This sensor is equipped with an optical-fiber loop part 1, a case 2, and first and second optical fiber lines 11 and 12 for letting light into or out of the loop part 1. The fiber lines 11 and 12 are fixed to the case 2 while the loop part 1 is not fixed to the case 2. This sensor can be used even in severe environments such as high temperatures, corrosive atmospheres, an intra-liquid state, or radiation exposure, since acoustic vibration is detected through the vibration of the loop part 1. Further, acoustic vibration ranging from several Hz to several MHz can be detected and wideband acoustic vibration can be suitably measured since the loop part 1 can vibrate freely as it is not fixed and also it is very lightweight. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
