PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium which is excellent in a magnetic property, where a magnetic layer is used whose coersive force and magnetic polyangular ratio of a cobalt-ferrite magnetic material are elevated by means of heating in a strong magnetic field. SOLUTION: The treatment method includes a process of depositing a material composed of mixed cobalt and iron oxide (material layer 2) or cobalt-ferrite on a substrate 1, and a process of heating the substrate 1, in a magnetic field.
