PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic transistor having a novel arrangement and a function for being applied to an organic semiconductor which is in an initial stage that a light emitting phenomenon has been just ascertained to a display. SOLUTION: In the organic transistor of such a structure as an organic semiconductor layer 2 is provided between a pair of electrodes 3 and 4 on a substrate 1, a front plate is composed of a conductive material or a semiconductor material and having an insulation layer 5 on the surface thereof, an organic semiconductor layer and a pair of electrodes are formed on the insulation layer, and the upper surface of the organic semiconductor layer is sealed by a translucent member 7. A voltage is applied between the pair of electrodes within the light emitting range of the organic semiconductor layer and a voltage is also applied to the substrate in order to control the light emission of the organic semiconductor layer.
