PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemical control method which prevents adhesion of aquatic insects living in river water or the like for a long period, and their larvae and nests with no water pollution concerns, and/or an electrochemical control method which removes the adhering aquatic insects, their larvae and nests only during a necessary period with considering the growth of the aquatic insects in river water. SOLUTION: In the electrochemical control method, two or more electrically conductive base materials are installed in at least a part of a water passage, and disposed so as to work as electrodes, and a power source applying current between the electrodes is installed, which damages at least a part of the cells of aquatic organisms with bacteriostatic action and hydrolysis reaction on the surfaces of the conductive base materials, or decomposes/denatures organic substances contacting the conductive base material to enable adhesion prevention and/or removal.
