<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of easily setting parameters and a method for controlling the image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of groups of values to be set in a plurality of parameters having respective different sorts respectively are managed as selection conditions and a display picture for displaying the plurality of selection conditions together with the values of the parameters constituting respective selection conditions as a table is generated and displayed.
