Drive mechanism for a reciprocating saw

A counterweight assembly (135) is supported when moved relative to a housing. The movement of counterweight assembly balances at least a portion of movement of a spindle. A counterweight drive mechanism is operated to move the counterweight relative to the housing. An adjustment assembly (40) is operated to adjust the range of movement of counterweight relative to the housing. A spindle drive mechanism, connected between a motor and a spindle, is operated to reciprocate the spindle. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a reciprocating saw operation method; and (b) a reciprocating device.
