<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit a multi-cast packet by cooperatively operating VRRP and PIM and also to rapidly change-over multi-cast transfer when a fault occurs. SOLUTION: VRRP and PIM protocols are mounted on a virtual router 20 organized by a plurality of routers 21 and 22. When PIM uses one's own IP address, a virtual IP address is used so that VRRP and PIM are cooperatively operated. The routers 21 and 22 process the reception of a multi-cast control packet by PIM in spite of a master or backup state and rapidly conduct multi- cast transfer with a host device via a downstream side router 40 and also transfer changeover when the fault occurs.</p> |
