The endoscope has a head (1) provided with a CCD imager or similar and a rigid sleeve (4) detachably mounted coaxially with the head. One or more light sources, such as an LED (6) is arranged at a distal end of the sleeve to illuminate an object being examined. An optical system is contained within the sleeve to pass light reflected from an imaged object to the image sensor mounted on the head. The head is connected via a flexible cord (2) to a control handle (3) and from there to a computer, e.g. using a USB connection. An independent claim is also included for an endoscopic device including an endoscope.
