The invention relates to the medicine, in particular to pulmonology and may be used for treating the severe persisting bronchial asthma. According to the invention, acetylcysteine is given at a dose of 600 mg once a day in the setting of the basic therapy with inhalation corticosteroid and ?2 agonist in the prolonged-release form. Due to acetylcysteine, the negative effects of corticosteroid are eliminated, in particular, the local immunity of the bronchial tree is not suppressed, and the mucosa does not become atrophied.
