摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize fine pixels by a low breakdown voltage MOS process in a pixel circuit using an organic EL element and to provide a high definition organic EL display device. <P>SOLUTION: In the organic EL element, voltage between anode and cathode of about 4-6V is required for light emission, each element in the pixel circuit is usually considered as the breakdown strength of 6V, however, required source/drain breakdown strength of a transistor at the time of normal operation becomes about a half of anode power supply voltage. Then, sequences at the time of power application are optimized and the breakdown voltage of 6V of the element is made unnecessary. Thus, video signal potential by a signal line SIG is established (tm0-tm1) at the time of power application, next, a circuit state is made to the one that current supply to the organic EL element is stopped (to tm2), next, anode potential of the organic EL element is gradually raised from a cathode potential (tm3-tm4). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
