PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic gas meter capable of minimizing man-caused mistake in setting a gas meter adapted to each consumer house, and reducing man-hours necessary for setting. SOLUTION: This electronic gas meter measuring a flow rate of a gas passing through a gas flow channel 19 by using a flow sensor 6, and having a prescribed safety function, includes a storing means 9A for storing relationship between a gas appliance connectable with the gas meter and individual maximum flow rate generatable by the gas appliance in advance in correspondence with each other; a specific information acquiring means 1A for acquiring the specific information for specifying the gas appliance actually connected with the gas meter; and a maximum use flow rate calculating means 1B for extracting the individual maximum flow rate corresponding to the specific information in reference to the acquired specific information and contents of the storing means 9A, extracting the individual maximum flow rate corresponding to the specific information, and calculating the maximum use flow rate available in the gas meter; and a setting means 1C for setting a parameter relating to the measurement of flow rate of the gas meter and the safety on the basis of the calculated maximum use flow rate.
